Mr. Douglas Lamar Gilbert, Jr. (Doug, Jr.), age 71, beloved husband of Janna Adams Gilbert, passed from this world into the arms of God on July 11, 2018, after a blessed life in this world.

Born January 5, 1947 to the late Capt. (Retired) Douglas L. Gilbert, Sr. and Nedra Hood Gilbert, Doug, Jr. was the second child and the oldest son of the six children (Peggy, Doug, Jr., Don, Dennis, David & Susie). As a young man, Doug, Jr. attended College Park High School.

In the late 60's, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served for approximately six years. His military service included sea duty off the coast of The Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Upon return to civilian life, Doug, Jr. was employed as a fireman in Griffin, GA, and later at the College Park Fire Department, and for a period of time, also served as manager of one of the Gilbert family Wendy's restaurants. It was in 1995, however, when Doug, Jr. began a new career that would quickly become his passion for the remainder of his working life Yellow Page Sales. For over fifteen years, Doug, Jr. earned his living as an award-winning salesman for The Community Phonebook. Excelling in sales, Doug, Jr. endeared himself to his clients in the fact that he never met a stranger. His can-do attitude, his persistence in closing that "one last" sale for each day, and his tremendous work ethic gained him numerous awards and immeasurable respect as well as praise from throughout his company.

Through the years, Doug, Jr. was always an active member of his local Church, in whichever city he was living in at the time. Always willing to serve and participate, Doug, Jr. felt a very strong bond with the Church and Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Janna; his three children, Larry (Becky), Ted (Mary), & Carrie Melissa Moore (Justin); two sisters (Peggy, Susie), three brothers (Don, Dennis, David) and their respective spouses; and numerous grandchildren.
