![]() Member - US Navy Post Commander 1983-84 James Floyd Goodrum, 93, of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017. He was born in Griffin, GA on January 30, 1924 to Jessie and Jamie Jackson Goodrum. Mr. Goodrum proudly served his country aboard the Escort Carrier USS Bogue during World War II in the United States Navy. In 2010, he was named Newnan Coweta Veteran of the Year. After 35 years, he retired from Delta Air Lines where he was the General Manager of the Propulsion Engineering Department. Mr. Goodrum was a member of the American Legion, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Sons of the American Revolution and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a master wood worker and craftsman. Mr. Goodrum was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Goodrum and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Steakley (Ken); his sons, Jeffrey Goodrum (Margaret) and Kenneth Goodrum (Gail); six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Turin Baptist Church, Turin, GA, with Pastor John McDuffie officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Sharpsburg Baptist Church, Sharpsburg, GA. Comments are closed.
